The fact that Meek Mill has the same lawyer as former President Donald Trump is the ultimate plot twist.
The Dreams and Nightmares rapper used a photo from today’s court arraignment to point out that he and the 76-year-old both used Joe Tacopina. Meek’s post included the headline, “Former President Donald Trump has pleaded not guilty to all 34 counts in his indictment.” The image showed Trump and his legal team, which included Tacopina.
Meek captioned his photo, “Trump graduated from the streets…sharing criminal defence attorneys…Tactical Joe.”
The 35-year-old then shared a photo of himself and Tacopina together. The image is from his criminal reform case in 2017.
Meek was sentenced to two to four years in prison at the time for violating the terms of his 10-year probation in his 2008 gun and drug case. Tacopina was the MC’s defence attorney in the case. Judge Genece Brinkley’s decision was criticised as “heavy-handed” and “unjust,” and it reignited debate about racial discrimination in the United States criminal justice system. Mill was released from prison on behalf of the Pennsylvania Supreme Court after serving five months of his sentence.
Joe Tacopina is not afraid to represent high-profile celebrities; he previously represented former Yankees star Alex Rodriguez in his MLB doping scandal.
Trump faces a maximum sentence of 136 years in prison for a 34-count indictment unsealed on Tuesday afternoon after his surrender. He pleaded not guilty to all charges, including falsifying records and conspiracy in connection with his alleged participation in hush money payments to Stormy Daniels and another woman.
