Drake has shared a sneak peek of a new song titled “Rescue Me,” which includes a sample of Kim Kardashian discussing her divorce with the artist formerly known as Kanye West.
An unreleased Drizzy song was discovered on the most recent episode of Sound 42’s The Fry Yiy Show on SiriusXM Radio. On the track, he sampled a line of dialogue from Kim K as she discussed her decision to divorce Ye. “I didn’t travel this far just to be unhappy. “Remember that,” she says in the clip, which is from the 2021 season finale of Keeping Up with the Kardashians.
Drake hasn’t said when fans can expect to hear the song, but producer BNYX has confirmed he’s behind the beat for “Rescue Me.” “I remember when I used to add the Drake acapellas to my beats to see if they were hard,” he wrote in a tweet. Now take a look.”
Because of Drake’s history with Ye, the choice to sample Kim K is intriguing. The two rappers feuded for three years before settling their differences in November 2021. It’s unclear whether Drizzy’s use of the sample is an act of chaos or simply a reflection of the track’s lyrical content.
Drake suggests in “Rescue Me” that he’s ready to settle down with a woman. “I need someone to be patient with me/Someone who wants money but will not take it from me,” he raps. “Come and save me/Get me out of the club, get me out of the trap/Get me off the market, get me off the map/I’m trying to hit the group chat and tell ’em.”
