Usher Plays April Fool’s Joke on ‘Dreamville Fest’ Attendees, Claiming Beyoncé Will Perform

Usher played a cruel April Fools’ Day prank on the crowd during his set at Dreamville Fest on Saturday (April 1), promising a Beyoncé performance.

“You know, I’m not sure if you guys heard some of the interviews I did before we decided to do this show, but as promised, I said I would have a special surprise for you tonight ladies and gentlemen,” he told the audience. “Would you like to know what that surprise is?” Without further ado, gentlemen and ladies… Join your hands for the one and only… Beyoncé.”

He then backed away from his microphone as the backing band stopped playing music, and for a brief moment, Usher teased the audience by making it appear Beyonce was not there. He walked away for a moment, then returned to the crowd, grimacing and saying, “April Fools.”

Usher expressed his amusement at the reaction when the video went viral. “Isn’t it still April 1st?” he tweeted.

While Beyoncé was not a special guest at Usher’s Dreamville Fest set, he still brought the heat with a set that included over 20 of his biggest hits. “Caught Up,” “The Matrimony,” “My Boo,” “Bad Girl,” “Burn,” and “Yeah!” were among the songs he performed.

Usher headlined the first day of Dreamville Fest 2023, which included performances by Lil Durk, Ari Lennox, EarthGang, and City Girls. J. Cole and Drake will headline the show on Sunday, with Summer Walker, J.I.D, and GloRilla also performing.
