Cardi B Responds to Fan Criticism for Not releasing a New Album or Going on Tour

Cardi B hasn’t released a new project in four years, and fans are wondering what’s taking so long. The Bronx rapper recently responded to fan criticism for not releasing a new album or going on tour.

On Friday (Nov. 25), a fan retweeted a video from TikTok user @duprii3 in which Duprii implied that Cardi B is afraid to release her new album or go on tour because she is concerned about her first-week sales. Duprii brought up Saweetie’s recent backlash over a rumoured low sales projection for her new EP, The Simple Life.

“This girl [Cardi B] hasn’t put out an album since 2018,” Duprii pointed out. “That has been going on for six years. Invasion of Privacy was released in 2018. She’s afraid to let go, but you haven’t said anything. At least these other girls out here are releasing something, whether or not it sells.”

Cardi B’s most recent project was her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, released in 2018, which earned her a Grammy Award for Best Rap Album in 2019. She’s only released singles and collaborations since then. The critic believes the 30-year-old artist is concerned that she will not be able to sell as many albums as she once did.

Cardi B took to Twitter on Saturday (Nov. 26) to deny being afraid of sales figures or releasing her new album, which would be her second full-length project.

“I’m never afraid of numbers, honey,” she wrote in a since-deleted tweet. “And I don’t have to put out another album if I don’t want to because I EATS GOOD OF MY DIAMOND RECORDS ALONE [wink emoji]. Drag the man who’s running their mouth to make your point… Man up!”

Cardi then retweeted a tweet from Touring Data, which stated that her 2019 arena tour was the first in history for a female rapper to gross more than $1 million per show. “Remember, it was only 7 shows….. Let’s not get into numbers “She made a remark.

A fan chimed in, asking Cardi B why she hasn’t released an album or gone on tour.

“You can’t be mad that people think you’re scared because if that’s the case, what’s the hold up?” the fan inquired. “You’ve been tying your fans up for years. Is that why you’re refusing to release? You’re happy eating off of old records that most people no longer care about?”

Cardi responded in a now-deleted tweet: “I’m a human baby…when my album comes out, I’ll be touring the world.

I need to mentally and physically prepare for all of this.

I hadn’t had management for two years and now I’m ready…

I DO THINGS ON MY TIME AND IN MY OWN WAY.”
