While American rapper DaBaby released mixtapes from 2014 to 2018, it wasn’t until he released his Billboard Hot 100 Top 10 single ‘Suge’ in 2019 that his career took off. DaBaby had arrived when he released his album Baby on Baby, with comedic lyrics that rivalled some of the best verses of comedic rappers like the legendary Ludacris and Redman, as well as a beat that makes your neck snap. DaBaby’s next single, ‘Bop on Broadway,’ was a certified hood classic with nimble rhymes and a video that impressed everyone from TikTok kids to grandmothers who watched it.
DaBaby will perform in Hong Kong at PUNCH Live 2023 with three other superstars, NICKTHEREAL, Tyson Yoshi, and MC Cheung, after a few years of pandemic-related downtime. All four of these rappers have their own distinct style, and while their life mottos are very different, they all share one passion: Hip Hop.
NICKTHEREAL has been selling out Taipei arenas. Tyson Yoshi has heartthrob status as he rides the buses around Hong Kong. MC Cheung’s claim to fame is that he finished second in the Hong Kong talent show King Maker.
Simply put, this is a stacked lineup full of superstars. Each of the MCs could have their own sell-out show, but for PUNCH Live 2023, they are banding together to rock Hong Kong to its core with great energy and music.
