Fans are once again divided over Playboi Carti.
Carti, the AWGE rapper, is seen in new videos recording a series of adlibs in his distinct high-pitched flow, which many have dubbed “baby voice.” Carti is seen sitting in a chair, delivering improvised phrases and sounds while making quick hand gestures and odd facial expressions.
While many mocked the Georgia native, calling his sound “trash” and overly reliant on auto-tune, others found the videos disturbing. The latter group mentioned the unsettling combination of strange sounds, Carti’s strange body movements, and the dim lighting.

“This is what I see in the corner of my room during sleep paralysis,” one Instagram user wrote.
“Never understood the hype surrounding dude- weird and underwhelming AF,” said another.
Several Twitter users described Carti’s song as “trash” and overly reliant on auto-tune.
However, not all of the reactions were negative. A number of fans defended Carti’s process, claiming that he must take a unique approach in order to create a distinct, unrivalled sound.
“Somehow that shit hits in his songs lmaooo,” wrote one Instagram user.
“It’s crazy how good he is and all he has to do is carti clears,” wrote another.
Although it is unknown when the recording session occurred, Carti is reportedly preparing to release his long-awaited third studio album. The rapper hasn’t released a proper full-length project since 2020’s Whole Lotta Red, but Atlanta DJ Swamp Izzo claims it’s already finished.
“Let me give you a world premiere,” the DJ said last month to Voices in the Streets Unfiltered, as reported by XXL magazine. “The Swamp Izzo-Playboi Carti album is finished. I’m going to give you the world premiere. Swamp Izzo-Playboi Carti has finished.”
But that isn’t the only collaboration that fans are looking forward to. Lil Uzi Vert hinted earlier this month that he and Carti were reuniting.
Uzi captioned an Instagram story that included Carti, “Me and my luv about 2 take over the world.”
The two have not revealed any additional information about their plans.
