Gucci Mane Promises ’06 GUCCI’ Return on 21 Savage & Dababy Collab

Gucci Mane has promised to reintroduce “06 Gucci” on his anticipated upcoming collaboration with 21 Savage and DaBaby.

Guwop has been teasing the record for the majority of March, but the trap pioneer has yet to announce an official release date.

Gucci teased the record on Instagram several times over the last week, posting clips of himself recreating memorable looks and nostalgic moments from his career.

In one clip, he recreates a scene from the 2007 fan favourite “Kick A Door,” while in another, he famously explains the art of having “sauce” to NOISEY.

“Even when I didn’t have money, I still had Sauce,” he reflected. “If you don’t have any sauce, you’re out.” However, you can get lost in the sauce. A bitch is going to get lost in the sauce, mane. As we sleep, I’m sprinkling and dropping sauce. Sauce overdose.”

Gucci Mane’s fans and friends are excited for the return of ’06 Gucci, with Busta Rhymes, Lil Baby, Tay Keith, Mike WiLL Made-It, and others commenting on Guwop’s posts.

Gucci Mane’s ’06 persona landed him in his mid-20s and at a pivotal point in his career. While his music was exploding in the underground, he couldn’t avoid a slew of legal issues.

Gucci shot and killed Pookie Loc during a home invasion in May 2005 while he was visiting a female friend, igniting his feud with Jeezy. Due to a lack of evidence, the murder charge was eventually dropped in January 2006.

He was soon released from jail while serving a six-month county sentence for aggravated assault on a nightclub promoter. Gucci’s sophomore album, Hard 2 Kill, was released in 2006 and peaked at No. 76 on the Billboard 200.

Gucci Mane’s body completely transformed after his release from prison in 2016 as he dedicated himself to fitness, kicked the lean cup, and is now living a sober lifestyle.

He married Keyshia Ka’Oir in 2017, and the couple has two children since then, with a baby girl, Iceland Davis, due in February.
