Young Guru Expresses Concern Regarding AI-Generated Jay-Z Verse

Young Guru, who previously expressed concern about a clip of an AI-generated Kendrick Lamar voice filter, has highlighted the troubling power of AI with a fake Jay-Z verse.

“I’ve been trying to explain to everyone where we are now with AI.” “For some reason, this one piqued everyone’s interest,” wrote the prolific audio engineer and producer alongside a clip of an AI-generated Jay-Z verse. “So, what are we going to do?” On the one hand, I understand that technology cannot be stopped. You can replace the genie once he has been removed from the box. On the other hand, we must protect the artist’s rights. Not only artists, but all members of society.”

As he did the last time he discussed the use of AI, Guru suggested that the AI-generated verse should raise red flags about the unauthorised use of someone’s audio likeness. “No one should be able to take your name, image, or likeness without your permission,” he added. “We need to give this law a voice.” We must learn from our mistakes in the past. You’d be a fool to go after every person who does this. With Napster, we learned that lesson. The only solution I see is to change the law. There are so many different points of view. We could change the law in the United States tomorrow, but the internet is global. What an epoch we live in!!”

Guru admitted in his previous post about the exponential advancement of AI that the technology is impressive but raises many ethical and legal concerns. He contended that the dangers stem from “the evil that men do with technology,” not from the technology itself. As he pointed out last month, there are still states in the country that do not have laws prohibiting revenge porn, for example. “Imagine the consequences for our children if, 5 years from now, some high school kid gets angry at his ex girlfriend and creates a whole ‘deep fake’ that sounds and looks real.”

Over 1,000 tech leaders from around the world, including Elon Musk, recently signed an open letter urging a halt to AI technology development due to the “significant risks to society and humanity” it poses. AI has begun to threaten various job sectors in the country, and there is even concern about how it will affect art and music.
